summer
the jargon of urine
and sweat preaching
along the vandalized
walls of the mechanical
station cling to the
public like a suspended
note the choir sings:
Christmas! Be merry!
it stings like a covid test
reaching for your brain
but finding your throat
instead: the price of free
when you walk along that
putrid corner; loud and
unashamed; a dog and his
cotton canvas; that man
and his unassuming pride
bathing in the golden shower
summer has pent up – that
must be it! the rats have made
their nest here, in the pool
of this dissonant song:
the flowers are drenched
in another orange, in
another earth, where the
man stands to zip his fly.
